Tomahawk Hut

Tomahawk Hut is located off Carters Rd and can be access directly off the main road to Mt Buller just past Merrijig. It is an easy drive to the hut and 2wd mode driving. This area is in the process of being logged at the moment so roads are closed (Jan 2006) although we managed to get through being a public holiday. The road climbs to eventually hit a y intersection, following the left fork you approach the hut. This small hut made from horizontal Logs, a lot like bindaree hut, is heavily graffitied which is a shame. The inside again is similar to bindaree having a dirt floor and simple fireplace / shelf.

Tomahawk hut was build for the Road Building crews to base themselves in when the Forestry Commission built it in the 1960's.
